Emerging from the darkly dystopian ego-theistic universe of their first LP, Xero God announces their second full-length album, Bandidos. Complete with a six shooter and cowboy hat, the project is a window into the minds of the groundbreaking art rap duo as they continue their sonic exploration to create music all their own. Laced with cowboy western themes and influences, the songs on Bandidos range from hard-hitting hip hop ("Bandidos") to melodic lovelorn ballads ("Dassumo"). Emcee Musashi Xero flexes his dexterity over dusty trails, touching on everything from the seductive to the surreal, offering an unflinching look into the young rapper's psyche. On the single "All Promo," he boasts, "If you're scared of the facts go to church / I find cactus to put water to work," pitting the sacred against the unsavory, calling bluffs and questioning truths. All the while, producer Panther God nods to the greats, pulling influence from The RZA, J Dilla, and Flying Lotus to keep the production cinematic and lush while incorporating live instrumentation (guitars, flutes, bass) for an organic feel. With equal parts sampling and original composition, the result is rooted in the Golden Age of Hip Hop but never stuck in the past.

Xero God set out to create an ambitious fusion of styles and sounds, and they've returned, guns blazing and on horseback, with Bandidos.
